Videos/Photos of the First Beatles Concert in America
Washington Coliseum (aka Uline arena) was the site of the first Beatles concert in the U.S. on Feb. 11, 1964. It is a nondescript building sitting next to the tracks near Union Station and has been largely forgotten by most. Though its appearance is forgettable, its history is amazing.
The Washington Coliseum was also the home of the Basketball Association of America’s Washington Capitols in the late 1940s and was coached by Red Auerbach of Boston Celtic fame.
Many children of the 40s, 50s and 60s will remember seeing the circus for the first time at this site. All this history and much more under one roof!
Enjoy !
