| Message: | I was a little reluctant to take the plunge but I finally retired in early January and have not regreted the decision. A few weeks into retirement I received the 50th reunion packet in the mail and it gave me the idea to create a web site for our class. So far the site contains a jukebox (about 240 songs from our era), an online 50th reunion questionnaire, and a Guestbook where you can post information about yourself and view information about classmates. If you're viewing this post then you have obviously found the site. I was looking over the 45 Year Reunion booklet and was pleased to see that so many of you are prospering and living satisfying lives. It's our turn to kick back, relax and enjoy life. | Message: | Here is my bio info since it did not get into the reunion book. My Life I Graduated from Bladensburg H.S in 1959. I served in the Air force from 63-67, stationed in Texas,Colorado,Washington state and Guam working on Atlas missile systems and B-52's. When I returned to Maryland area and I went to the University of Maryland graduating with a Mechanical engineering degree and a member of the Pi Tau Sigma, the Mechanical engineering honorary Society. I worked for the National Bureau of standards as a researcher on high temperature measurement, lighting levels and cusumer safety for several years (67-74)part time while I went to school then full time. In 1974 went to work for a Washington D.C.trade association (National Grain and Feed Association)for 10 years as Director of Engineering where I led a research program to find ways to prevent grain dust fires and explosions. In 1984 I went to work for Bunge Inc. (A large food and Agri-business Co.) in St. Louis as assistant V.P of safety and regulatory compliance for 20 years. I worked for them in the Memphis area for 10 years then went to St. Louis, MO for 10 years. I retired in 2003 and now am a Safety consultant specializing in fires, explosions and accidents. I currently live in Delaware. I have been married since 1975 to my wife Judy and have two kids, Ryan (37), who lives in Nashville, TN) and Ashleigh (29) who lives in IL near St. Louis). We are blessed with 2 grandkids both girls Kennedy (5) and Emery (10) months by Ryan & Carla. Ashleigh is married to Tony and share his two kids Jake (14) and Haylie 11. My hobbies are tennis,golf wood working and travel. I follow the Redskins, and the St. Louis Cardinals and the Orioles. I have traveled extensively including: all of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina,Okinawa and most of western Europe. My wife and I have enjoyed a couple of Carribean cruises the last few years and travel to see family and friends. Other than my kids and family my accomplishments are all associated with my career. I received several industry awards during my time and am still active in industry work and issues. My current hobbies are: golf, tennis, reading, construction, and friends. We attended the 50th BHS reunion in June and had a great time meeting friends and getting caught up. My thanks to all of those who worked on it, they did a great Job and had a great band. | ||

The neighborhood really was a neighborhood, and we knew all the families on the block. The original HS was located on the south side of Rte 450, Defense Highway, and was rebuilt as the Bladensburg Middle School. | Message: | I have been thoroughly enjoying your Jukebox offerings to the public which I received the link to in an email message. I'm a 1965 graduate of a school in Texas, and am especially happy to see a song from my favorite EVER group, The Seekers, on the lineup of 60s songs singing "I'll Never Find Another You." The group is currently on tour doing a 50th Golden Anniversary Reunion tour. They are the only group from the 60s with all 4 original members still alive and singing together. They finished their tour of Australia in December 2013. I was fortunate to fly to Aussie and attend 4 of their concerts. They were fabulous and sounded at least as good if not better than they did back in the 60s when they were knocking The Beatles and Rolling Stones off the charts in the U.K. They will travel to the UK for a lineup of cities and 50th Anniv. concerts in that country beginning in April and ending in June of 2014. I will be flying to London to see at least 2 concerts there. As all members are ages 70, 71, 72, and 73 I fear that this may be their last major tour. If you are a Seekers fan, try to make one of the concerts in the U.K. I promise you won't be disappointed. We just returned from a family reunion at Isle of Palms, SC and immediately went to help our daughter move into a new home in Silver Sprints MD. A lot of my free time is spent running. I completed the Boston Marathon in April. Many of my family came to Boston to cheer me on. I have just started hiking one day a week, mostly in the Shenandoah National Park. My wife Lynn and I have a daughter and two granddaughters, who live in Silver Spring, MD and 2 sons, one in Frederick MD, and another in Chapel Hill, NC. My sister Adele Reeves Maguire, BHS class of 1961, lives in Bromes Island, MD, with her husband Jack Maguire, BHS class of 1960. My primary outside activity is running, which I do 3 days/week, and marathons, which I ran twice last year, including Boston. | ||
